Zachary S. Unger

Managing Director

Zack is a Managing Director in the Business Performance Improvement Solution in Protiviti’s Metro New York Region. Zack serves as the East Region Public Sector Lead and has been at Protiviti for over 15 years. During this time, Zack has supported numerous organisations in Government, Higher Education and the commercial space with significant transformations, accounting and finance matters, and other major projects. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Zack also helped to stand up unemployment insurance (UI) support programs in multiple states

In addition to Zack’s Public Sector activities, he also leads a working group of professionals at the firm focused on ESG reporting.

Major Projects

Led efforts to stand-up and expand State-level unemployment insurance review and call-centre operations necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Helped numerous Universities with their efforts related to business transformation, process improvement, audit readiness, internal audit, and many other initiatives.
Led efforts to support the oversight and audit efforts for a municipality operating under increased government oversight. This effort also required becoming current on several years of open external audits.
Support organisations as they adapt to and adopt ESG (Environmental Social Governance) initiatives
Helped lead client efforts to draft and improve financial disclosures necessitated by accounting adoption, transaction / major events, and the ordinary course of operations.
